Muay Thai kickboxing isn't just for adults; it can also be highly beneficial for children of all ages. Starting Muay Thai training at a young age offers a range of advantages, from physical fitness to mental discipline. At IMC Kemps Creek, we now offer Kickboxing classes from the age of 5, giving our students the upper hand from an early developmental stage.
Physical Fitness:
Kickboxing engages kids in a dynamic workout, improving cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, and coordination. These foundational skills set them up for a lifetime of physical activity. The fine and gross motor skills learnt in our classes are applicable across a huge range of other sports and activities.
Self-Defence Skills:
Learning Thai Kickboxing equips children with practical self-defence techniques, boosting their confidence and empowering them to protect themselves if necessary.
Like Hanshi says “It’s better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war”.
Discipline and Focus:
Through structured classes, children learn discipline, respect, and focus, essential qualities that translate into other aspects of their lives, including academics and social interactions.
Emotional Regulation:
Muay Thai provides a constructive outlet for children to manage their emotions, teaching them to stay calm under pressure and observe sportsmanship during training at all times.
Social Skills and Teamwork:
Muay Thai classes encourage interaction with peers, fostering teamwork, communication, and camaraderie, while also building friendships and social skills. Plenty of our young students have meet-ups and play dates outside of the dojo!
Starting Muay Thai at 5 years old allows children to develop these skills from a young age, laying a strong foundation for their physical, mental, and emotional well-being as they grow.
